The Promises God Keeps

The promises I rest upon and live into in times of difficulty and uncertainty are God’s promises of protection and assurance. 

My favorite passages that detail these promises are the psalms. Over and over again, God is described as a shield, a protector, a fortress, a rock. These promises remind me that no matter where I find myself and no matter how difficult the journey may be, God is present with me and constantly supporting me, shielding me, and hiding me. He cares for me and I trust him that I can walk through anything because he is with me. In the last year, we have moved to Sarnia and have walked through many difficult challenges of relocation and learning a new culture and new people, but God has been our rock through it all, protecting us and providing for us.

Psalm 18:1-3

1 I love you, Lord;

    you are my strength.

2 The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior;

    my God is my rock, in whom I find protection.

He is my shield, the power that saves me,

    and my place of safety.

3 I called on the Lord, who is worthy of praise,

    and he saved me from my enemies.

 Prayer activity: Pray these prompts specifically about your own life.

• Lord, I praise you for being my rock when… [thank God for his protection in your life]

• Father, be my shield when… [pray about a difficult situation you are facing]

Las promesas sobre las que descanso y vivo en tiempos de dificultad e incertidumbre son las promesas de protección y seguridad de Dios.

 Mis pasajes favoritos que detallan estas promesas son los salmos. Una y otra vez, Dios se describe como un escudo, un protector, una fortaleza, una roca. Estas promesas me recuerdan que no importa dónde me encuentre y no importa cuán difícil sea el viaje, Dios está presente conmigo y constantemente me apoya, me protege y me oculta. Se preocupa por mí y confío en él para que pueda atravesar cualquier cosa porque él está conmigo. 3 Invoqué al Señor, que es digno de alabanza,

    y me salvó de mis enemigos
